Business Reco Letter
Business School:
Recommendations from employers and instructors familiar with the applicant’s academic work are of particular interest to business schools. Notably, colleges that typically only consider candidates with multiple years of full-time experience frequently give employer recommendation letters more weight. They are looking for synopses of the applicant’s overall potential as a business student. The letter is more beneficial to the applicant and the business school admissions committees the more accurately it reflects the applicant’s background and performance.
The Letters Should Address Following Questions
Leadership potential and interpersonal skills:
How well-versed in building and sustaining relationships is the candidate? How well does he or she collaborate with peers, superiors, and/or subordinates? How would you rate the applicant’s leadership qualities, capacity for assigning tasks, ability to show empathy to those who lack competence, and likelihood of succeeding as an administrator in the future? Has the candidate shown that they are willing to work in a group setting?
Achievements in Life:
How well has the applicant utilized his or her innate ability, and has he or she created or sought opportunities to do so? In what way do the applicant’s accomplishments align with those of their colleagues?
Candidate’s awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses:
Will the candidate take constructive feedback? Will he or she own up to mistakes, ask for assistance when needed, and take on challenges with confidence?
Capacity for dialogue:
Does the candidate write well? Does the submitted writing show that the author understands the rules of English grammar? Is the written content persuasive, organized, and clear? Is the candidate able to express themselves clearly?
Prospects for business research:
What do you think the applicant will likely perform like in the business study? How well-thought-out do you believe the applicant’s graduate study plans are? How does this candidate compare to others suggested for business school?
Individual successes:
How well has the applicant utilized his or her innate ability, and has he or she created or sought opportunities to do so? In what way do the applicant’s accomplishments align with those of their colleagues?
Intellectual Requirements:
How would you rate the applicant’s capacity for critical thought and ability to learn new concepts? Has the applicant’s employment history or academic background, or any other unique circumstances, had an impact on their academic record? Is the candidate able to use his or her knowledge in a novel way?
Industry and Individual Control:
How much does the candidate exhibit efficiency, motivation, and perseverance? Does the applicant’s academic diligence raise any red flags?
